I remember the first time I used internet: it was 1995, the network I got connected did not support any type images. It was all plain text, funny enough I do not exactly recall the first site I got connected. Probably it was NASA :).
Since that time, I fell in love with the Internet, and used it in every way possible. It started from MUDs and gophers and here is where I end up. My first personal web page was a fully hand-made mostly-links type of crap. I wish I had saved a copy for historical reasons :). By that time (1997), we had the luxury of adding small gif pictures to its content. Although from where I had connected (Middle East Technical University, Electrical Engineering Labs, Turkey) it was really slow, so I doubt anyone was passionate enough to see it completely :). In a few years, the scene was all changed, they upgraded the lab equipment they upgraded the network connections, and I was playing with VRML for my next web page.
VRML did not have a long breath, but I kept the pace with whatever was hot. I was redesigning my page
almost every 6 months :). Then came the times I got really busy, yeah, I got my degree and started PhD
in an area far away from net technologies. Since then, when it comes to web design I am going after simplicity.
Not that I do not long for my old feature-rich pages, but do not have time to design anything for myself.
Though I did some nice stuff still, like the web page I have designed for 3rd Turkish Film Festival in Atlanta.
Here it is check it out: TFF Web Site for 2004.
In January 2005, I finally convinced myself that I needed a new website (aside from many blogs I keep,
this would be the official). But this time, I would use some automated tools to handle it, and hence
(hopefully) will keep it updated more easily. I turned to Macromedia Dreamweaver and used the HALO
template, modified it considerably, and here it is...
This web page is by no means complete, I do not think any personal web page can ever be... As a netizen of this universe, my being is not limited to this page but it is all over the place! Many personal weblogs, club webpages, emaillists and forums; some are directly connected to my identity, while others use many different aliases.
This intro is written on January 4th, 2005. When I get to add more, I will add them as stories below.
